撒网打鱼,以湖为生;筑屋湖滨,以湖为家;退田还湖,以湖为友;抗洪抢险,以湖对立;千百年来,当地老百姓与湖血肉相连。鄱阳人说话、吃饭、喝酒,都和湖有关,并形成了“开湖”、“禁湖”、“祭湖”等习俗。中国湖城因此而得名。湖城中心鄱阳镇地处鄱阳湖东岸,有2220多年的历史,总面积108.67平方公里,总人口近20万人,下辖20个社区,21个村委会,是江西省人口最多的一个乡镇。
