The Highway Engineering Symposium co-chaired by the Guangdong Provincial Institute of Road Engineering and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University was held in Guangzhou on December 14-17, 1982. The host of the conference was Xie Ruizhen, chief engineer of Guangdong Provincial Communications Department and Dr. Huang Qijie of Hong Kong Polytechnic Institute.
