传统修辞学仅仅把借代看作一种辞格,认为借代的主要功能是指称,并且借代的运用目的是为了使语言简洁生动。借鉴认知语言学理论对借代进行的考察表明,借代不仅是一种修辞手段或是语言问题,更是人类概念系统的一部分,是我们在日常生活中赖以思考、行动和运作的根本性认知方式。借代以我们的日常体验为基础,其本质就是在一个认知框架内共同出现的实体之间建立联系,并且这种联系不局限于空间意义。此外,语言符号系统从本质上具有借代性质,任何一个符号都可潜在表示一个认知框架内的多个成分。
Traditional rhetoric merely regards metonymy as a figure of speech, arguing that the main function of metonymy is allegation, and that the purpose of borrowing is to make the language simple and vivid. An investigation of metonymy from the perspective of cognitive linguistic theory shows that metonymy is not only a rhetorical device or a linguistic problem but also a part of the conceptual system of human beings and a fundamental recognition of our thinking, action and operation in our daily life Know the way.
