高校资料室以其特有的服务功能在教学科研工作中发挥重要作用。但在现有体制下仍存在许多弊端 ,很难在现代科学技术条件下充分发挥其功能 ,提高服务质量和水平。将高校资料室与图书馆进行整合 ,按一级学科分类组建在图书馆统一领导下的信息服务中心 ,能将深入挖掘图书资料信息工作的潜能 ,为教学科研提供高质量服务 ,并能合理使用有限的经费 ,实现资源共享 ,在组织结构上为图书资料的网络化数字化建设提供便利
