2011年7月4日,英国《卫报》头条爆料称《世界新闻报》在2002年非法窃听失踪少女米莉·道勒及其家人的电话。这篇报道如同一枚重磅炸弹掀起了轩然大波,并直接导致了这家有着168年历史的《世界新闻报》被迫停刊。在其7月10日出版的最后一期头版以“谢谢,再见”的黑白大字与读者告别。
On July 4, 2011, the headline of the British “Guardian” broke the news that “News of the World” illegally tapped the phone of the missing girl, Millie Dole and their families in 2002. The story set off an uproar as a blockbuster, and led directly to the forced closure of the 168-year-old News of the World. In its July 10 issue of the last issue of the front page, “Thank you, goodbye,” the black and white characters and readers say goodbye.
