他是中共著名农民运动先驱彭湃的儿子;是现人大常委会委员长李鹏在延安一起长大的伙伴、留苏时的同学;是中国核潜艇的第一任总设计师;是我国第一个核动力装置的主要设计者;是第一座核电站的主要技术负责人。在科学领域里,他取得了举世瞩目的成就。然而,他的名字先前还鲜为人知。而今,当人民共和国点燃第50支蜡烛时,人们不由自主地又追忆起了他:
He is the son of Peng Pai, a pioneer of the famous peasant movement in the CCP. He is also the partner of Li Peng, chairman of NPC Standing Committee, who grew up together in Yanan and left the Soviet Union. He is the first chief designer of a Chinese nuclear submarine and the first nuclear power plant in China.
