甘薯为我省目前重要粮食作物之一。近年有一定程度的发展,1955—1956年,全省栽培面积在700万亩以上,约有80%以上的面积栽培在红壤坡地。我省气候经常在7—8月以后少雨或缺雨,容易形成干旱,影响甘薯的产量很大;因此,选择抗旱、早熟、丰产的甘薯良种,是当前生产上迫切需要解决的问题。我所从51年起,开始从省内外征集和引进甘薯原始料材,并经53—54年两年在红壤坡地进行甘薯原始材料研究,主要着重地上与地下部分特征特性观察及抗旱性的鉴定,初步发现宁远三十早等品种,有上述特性之一或全部特性。本试验的目的,为将现有几个甘薯良种在红壤坡地进行比
