As one of the representatives of the “Kyoto School of Japanese Studies in China”, Naito Fujimoto has a far-reaching impact on future generations. The Sino-Japanese War of 1894 was a turning point in the transformation of Naden-Naha’s Chinese outlook. Before the war and in the early days of the war, Hunan’s outlook on China was an ideal view of China, that is, the Chinese concept supported by ancient Chinese culture. At this time, he proposed the Japanese vocation on the basis of admiration of Chinese culture. However, while the war was still victorious in Japan, Naito tried to seek cultural vitality within China shortly afterward and proposed that “the cultural center is moving to Japan.” This shows that Naoto’s ideal China concept has been shaken and is approaching the realistic concept of China.
