利用人工构建的小尺度植物群落就土壤有效空间变化对物种多样性—生产力关系及其作用机理的影响进行了研究.结果表明:大、中、小不同有效土壤空间条件下的各物种单播表现大不相同,说明土壤有效空间的大小对物种生产潜力的发挥有重要作用.土壤有效空间对物种多样性—生产力关系格局也有重要影响.在小土壤空间条件下,物种多样性与生产力间表现为单峰曲线关系,而随着土壤有效空间的增大,物种多样性与生产力关系发生了变化:中等土壤空间条件下二者间表现为线性趋势,但线性关系不显著;大土壤空间条件下二者间为极显著线性关系,表明土壤有效空间的增加可增强物种多样性对生产力的促进作用.相对产量总和计算结果表明:在小土壤空间条件下,物种多样性与互补效应间呈现出单峰曲线格局,多样性较高的混播群落中物种间对资源的互补性利用受到一定程度的限制;相反,在中、大土壤空间条件下,互补效应与物种多样性间呈显著的正相关关系,说明土壤有效空间的增加有利于多样性较高群落中物种间对资源的互补性利用.随着土壤有效空间的增加,多样性对生产力的促进作用增强,这种作用主要是由于较大土壤空间条件下物种间资源互补效应的充分发挥.
