In the installation of steel structures, the deviation between the anchor bolts and the bolt holes in the bottom plate of the column often causes troubles in the construction. A construction method to avoid hole expansion is now introduced. According to the design requirements, all the column base plates are drilled and numbered together with the foundation (Figure 1). During the construction, the threaded bolts of the anchor bolts are wrapped in buttered kraft paper to protect the threaded fasteners.
