Toll-like receptors (TLRs) play an important role in the identification of invading pathogenic microorganisms in early innate immunity and play a pivotal role in the innate and adaptive immunity. Recent studies have found that TLRs play an important regulatory role in the differentiation, maturation and function of osteoblasts (OBs) and osteoclasts (OCs). OC bone resorption and OB bone formation constitute a continuous process of bone remodeling. The elucidation of the role of TLRs in the occurrence and function of OB and OC can deepen the understanding of the mechanism of bone metabolism-related diseases and provide a new method for the development of targeted drugs.
