Trichomonas vaginalis,a zoonotic anaerobic parasite first discovered in the secretions of vaginitis patients in 1836,is mainly transmit-ted through sexual activities.In addition,T.vaginalis can also be transmitted through indirect contact in public swimming pools,toi-lets,bathtubs,etc.Infected females suffer from diseases such as vaginitis,urethritis,miscarriage,and premature birth,while infected males are mostly asymptomatic carriers or with chronic urethral inflammation and prostate inflammation,which can cause infertil-ity in severe cases.Infection with T.vaginalis increases the risk of human immunodeficiency virus infection [1].Polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) are the most abundant in white blood cells,accounting for more than 60%,and play important roles in the nat-ural immune system and form the first defense line of hosts against microbial pathogens [2].There are two ways in which PMNs kill pathogens:one is the way to directly phagocytose pathogens and the other is to release the nuclear DNA into the extracellular DNA through the rearrangement of the cytoskeleton,and capture the pathogens,which is called neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs)and this method of death is called NETosis [3].Previous studies have focused on the effects of NETs on bacteria,fungi,and viruses,while recent studies focused on the effects of NETs on parasites such as Toxoplasma gondii,Neospora caninum,and Leishmania [4-6].
