一要拒绝深沉。与深沉相对的不是肤浅而是简单,也就是说诗歌要简单点好。一方面它所承载的思想、情感要简单,一方面它表达这种思想、情感的方式要简单。对于思想、情感来说,简单就是单纯、纯粹。对于表达的方式来说,简单就是简约、随意。深沉的东西归根结底是哲学,即使在文体要厚实得多的小说中,深沉的东西也是要用许多的情节和细节来慢慢铺垫的,何况形式要简单得多的诗歌又怎么包裹得了那些深沉的东西。后世从许多经典诗句中所剥离出来的
One must refuse deep. The opposite is not superficial but simple, that is to say the poetry is simple and good. On the one hand, the thoughts and feelings it carries are simple.
