From 1991 to 1995, under artificial control of water conditions, the effects of soil moisture at different growth stages on the shedding of cotton buds and the fiber quality were studied. The study found that inadequate or excessive soil moisture, are likely to cause increased loss of buds and quality decline. Soil moisture, which is conducive to increasing bolls and improving fiber quality, is about 55% -75% of the field capacity. Different stages of cotton bud bolting rate and sensitivity to water is different. The sensitive coefficient of water loss to the buds of bollworm blooms - the boll opening period is the largest and bud stage is relatively small. The rate of flowering at flowering stage - the largest bolting stage, flowering - the flowering stage, followed by boll opening stage, budding - the smallest flowering stage. Soil moisture at these stages, which is conducive to boll bolting, is 60%, 66%, 64% and 63% respectively. The soil relative humidity, which is beneficial for increasing the fiber length, improving the fiber fineness and increasing the fiber strength, is 65% -75%.
