作为北美极少数红土赛事之一,正式名称为“美国男子红土网球锦标赛”的休斯顿红土赛向来是美国选手备战法网的热身赛。2003、2004两年,休斯顿作为年终大师杯的主办地出了不少风头,休斯顿网球俱乐部的老板吉姆·麦金维尔也随之名声大噪。因此,今年的休斯顿红土赛也成功邀请到了罗迪克,阿加西等大牌选手参赛。然而,当选手们来到赛场时,却被眼前的情景惊呆了:眼看开赛在即,比赛用的红土场地居然还未铺设完成!
The Houston Clay Court, officially known as the “US Men’s Clay Tennis Championships,” as one of the few North American red clay courts, has always been a warm-up match for U.S. players preparing for the French Open. In 2003 and 2004, Houston took the limelight as host of the year-end Masters Cup, and Jim McKinwell, owner of the Houston Tennis Club, became famous. Therefore, this year’s Houston clay court also successfully invited to Rodick, Agassi and other big-name contestants. However, when the players came to the arena, but was shocked by the immediate scene: seeing the start of the race, the clay court used in the game has not actually completed the laying!
