中国船舶工业总公司第七研究院第七一一研究所下属的柴油机发展部(简称柴研部),地处上海市杨浦区复兴岛,东靠黄浦江,西濒大运河。柴研部已成为我国内燃机研究发展的主要基地之一,各类船舶用高、中、低速柴油机及其配套附件的研究、设计、开发和试验中心,同时还从事机电工程和设备的研究与开发。柴研部技术力量雄厚,有一支理论水平较高、实践经验丰富,各类专业配套的船用柴油机研究、设计、试制和试验的科技队伍,有6000kW、3000kW、750kW、150kW整机试验室及能适应14～110kW的整机试验室单缸试验室、增压、燃油、零部件以及性能与强度等专用试验室二十余个,测试仪器设备选进,可谓人才荟萃设
