事件主角——“先玉335”于2004年(夏播)、2006年(春播)通过国家审定,是美国杜邦旗下的全资子公司先锋国际良种有限公司专门培育的适合中国农民种植的品种,现由旗下的登海种业、敦煌种业两家合资上市公司负责制种、销售。近几年,“先玉335”在玉米种子市场的扩张速度惊人。据统计,2004年开始推广,2006年在全国种植面积26万亩,2009年已达到1692万亩,2010年可能达3000多万亩。
