1985年8月7日,这是一个普通的日子,但对南昌市珠市小学的教师们来说,却是一个值得庆贺和纪念的日子。因为这个学校久拖未决的住房紧张、困难的问题,终于在这一天由于市委、市政府领导同志来校现场办公得到了解决。珠市小学因“文革”期间搬迁百里之外的石岗,校舍改成了南昌市三建公司的仓库。1972年学校迁回后,为了重建学校,在操场上搭起了临时工棚,该校一部分教师、工人就住进了这种只有用油毛毡作顶的极为简陋的棚屋。这幢房子的房梁、房椽全用竹子代替,因为年数已久,原先把竹子捆扎在一起的蔑条不少已经松动、脱落,整个房子也已倾斜、破败,随时可能发生房塌人亡的危险。
