在新中国成立以前,侵犯中国南海诸岛主权的,基本都来自西方列强;而在上世纪50年代后,与中国在南海诸岛问题上发生主权纠纷的,都是来自南海周边国家。打开中国地图,我们会看到在呈公鸡形状的中国领土版图下面,划出一个“U”字型的以九段虚线连成的海疆国界线。这条线,通常也被人们称为“九段线”。它是对中国南海疆界的标绘。
Before the foundation of New China, the infringement of sovereignty over the South China Sea islands came mainly from Western powers.
