在鹿丹村那套简朴的住屋里,年届花甲的姚指挥对我说:“交响乐就是我的生命,我活着要为中国争光,要为中国的交响乐指挥在世界乐坛取得应有地位而奋斗……”一席话,使我联想起曹操“老骥伏枥,志在千里。烈士暮年,壮心不已”的名句……不知不觉走上指挥之路他原籍浙江,生在武汉,1940年全家乘烧木炭的汽车,历尽艰辛曲折,逃难到昆明。他记得第一次音乐表现是在昆明的大街上,踏着正步,边走边高唱《义勇军进行曲》。那时他只是一个4岁的孩子。11岁时在上海有地下党领导的建承中学附小上4年级,参加歌咏比赛,校长提出由小朋友自己指挥,选了一个女孩和他。他说,就这样不知不觉当上了指挥,走上了指挥之路。上海一解放,他参加宣传队,扭秧歌,打腰鼓,更是常常指挥全校唱歌。
