The authors studied the inhibitory effects of hesperidin (HES) on LPS-induced and infection-induced lethal shock and TNF-α production. Female C57BL/6 mice were given ip HES and 3 hours later iv were prepared from Salmonella abortus. The results showed that HES significantly reduced TNF-α levels in mouse serum in a dose-dependent manner. Female BALB/c mice and BALB/lps~d mice that did not respond to LPS were challenged with Salmonella typhimurium. Only BALB/c mice died within 42 hours due to endotoxin shock; HES 0.3, 1 and 3mg can fight lethal shock caused by endotoxin and make it at 1mg
