阴山东段是我国砂金的重要产地之一.七十年代中期以来,做了大量的地质工作,积累了丰富的资料,发现近百处砂金矿(点). 区域地质、地貌概述阴山山脉是阴山-天山纬向构造带的主要组成部分,其东段与新华夏构造体系第三隆起带、沉降带复合,并分割第三沉降带,呈略向南突的弧形.属典型的干旱-半干旱区. 阴山东段主要由太古界地层组成,西北边缘分布有元古界,盖层较少,除中、新生代基性、酸性火山岩系外,其余皆为陆相盆地碎屑沉积,并广泛分布第四系沉积物(见图). 太古界一般三分:集宁群、乌拉山群、二道洼群,呈南老北新渐次排布.集宁群分布于东南边缘,为一套深变质的硅线榴石钾长片麻岩、大理岩、石英岩、浅粒岩等.乌拉山群组成该带主
