江南造船厂建于1865年,距今已有132年的历史。改革开放以来,造船、修船和非船产品总量逐年提高。目前,手持船舶产品的订单有28艘,计110万吨,合同价近11亿美元,生产任务已安排到2000年。与此同时,随着现代企业制度试点的深化和经营机制的转换,近几年工厂后勤服务社会化在“发展、管理、分流”的工作方针筹划下,亦获得了同步快速发展,业务经营项目已涉及物资、商贸、运输、仓储、金融、房地产等行业。据统计,1996年,公司承担后勤服务社会化职能的三产事业部共完成营业额达14,000万元,超额完成全年利润承包指标。实践出经验、出才智、出能力。通过这几年在市场风浪中的磨炼和搏击,江南厂不仅步入了后勤服务社会化发展的快车道而且奠定了发展大三产的基础预计到2000年产值将达5亿元利润5000万元.
