After World War II to 1973, Japan’s economy witnessed astonishing growth with an average growth rate of about 9% per annum. However, going back to history, from the Meiji Restoration in the late 19th century to about 1940, Japan’s economic growth rate was only 2% per annum for nearly half a century %about. Japan’s growth rate was so slow before the Second World War, why did it suddenly accelerate after the war?
