作为交际工具的语言是由语音、语法和词汇三部分组成.语言首先是有声的语言,文字是有声语言的记录符号.语音不仅是语言的本质,也是语言教学的基础.语言失去了语音,就成了无生命的语言,它的交际作用、教学活动都将受到极大的限制.但由于种种原因,语音教学在语言教学中一直没有得到足够的重视.在大学英语教学中,普遍存在语音教学薄弱的问题.本文从长期忽视语音教学所造成的问题,语音与听、说、读、写等的关系方面,谈一谈大学英语中语音教学的重要性.
