About the Author Samuel Joseph Agnone (1888-1970), Israeli, novelist in Hebrew. Agnès was born in 1888 in a Jewish family. Childhood was influenced by Jewish religious culture. Most of his works have a romantic style, which is both realism and fantasy. In 1966, Agnon won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Agnin’s blending the history and the present day of the Jewish nation in the novel depicts the clash between idealism and reality and desperately eradicates all the poverty, suffering and humiliation in the world.
