China and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding on AIDS cooperation in Washington on June 28. The memorandum was signed by the Chinese Minister of Health Zhang Wenkang who is visiting the United States and the U.S. Minister of Health and Human Services Thompson on behalf of the Ministry of Health of the two countries. Its identified areas of cooperation include: development of new prevention strategies and measures; research on AIDS vaccines, diagnostic methods and therapies; treatment and care of AIDS patients; epidemiological and epidemiological studies on AIDS epidemiology and data analysis; enhanced blood safety testing methods;
