The material expectations of different income groups are similar in the initial stages, so more revenue means greater happiness. But as far as people’s life cycle is concerned, although the horizontal difference between well-being and income still exists, people’s expectation will increase with the increase of income, so the impact of income increase will be weakened. It is generally accepted that in the past, happiness was low and the future was happier because people believed that income would continue to increase while material expectations would remain unchanged for the rest of the year. In fact, as expectations rise with income, the sense of well-being that people feel will be radically different from the expected happiness. Based on the wrong expectations, people will naturally make the wrong choice.
