棉花是我国重要的经济作物之一,在我国纺织工业所用的原料中棉花占80%以上.棉花的短绒、棉籽、棉柴及茎皮纤维等在化学工业和国防工业方面用途很大.因此,发展棉花种植业有着巨大的国民经济意义.自治区将成为我国的植棉基地,植棉面积每年都在高速扩大,棉花的质量和产量为全国所推崇.由于棉花是一种需要高度技术管理的作物,需耗费大量的劳力,因此,扩大棉花种植面积,必须实现棉花生产过程的机械化.棉花栽培的工艺过程比较复杂,各个过程有不同的要求,兹就其机械化方面简述如下;
