The authors purified 65 kDa Neisseria goncapsid lectin (GPL) and found that they have a lectin-like activity similar to the structure and immunogenicity of the common antigen family. Ultrastructural localization of GPL was performed using anti-GPL monoclonal antibody (McAb): GPL is a major component of outer membrane proteins. It is also found in large vesicles formed by Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
