Karl Zeiss, the Federal Republic of Germany, Federal Republic of Germany, manufactures an experimental laser scanning microscope (LSM). This laser scanning microscope works both as a conventional light transmission microscope and as a scanning laser microscope with helium-neon, gas-cooled argon or helium-cadmium laser, etc. The laser beam expander consists of two galvanometer scanners (256 × 256 to 4096 × 4096 pixels) to deflect it. The light transmitted through the sample is attenuated, filtered or decomposed before it reaches the photomultiplier image and is processed and displayed on the monitor. This point-by-point imaging structure makes the halo quite small, so the contrast is better than a normal microscope. Resolution of 0.25 microns, can send 16 images per second.
