本文提出一种新的脉冲模拟调制系统,脉冲间隔和宽度调制适合于发光二极管。在这种系统中脉冲的宽度和间隔都带有信息。与脉冲间隔调制相比较,脉冲间隔和宽度调制的特点如下。首先,脉冲重复频率降低一半。其次,平均占空率是50%。第三,要求较大的功率,可是载波噪声比却得到改善。本文说明它如何工作,并与别的脉冲模拟调制——如脉冲频率调制或脉冲间隔调制进行了比较。作为应用脉冲间隔和宽度调制的例子,本文也示出一种双路传输试验——采用两个发光二极管,两根光纤传输线,两个PIN光电二极管。本文结尾概略指出减少传输带宽是可能的。
This paper presents a new pulse analog modulation system, pulse spacing and width modulation suitable for light-emitting diodes. The pulse width and spacing in this system are informative. Compared with pulse interval modulation, the characteristics of pulse interval and width modulation are as follows. First, the pulse repetition frequency is reduced by half. Second, the average duty cycle is 50%. Third, require a larger power, but the carrier-to-noise ratio is improved. This article shows how it works and compares it to other pulse-modulated modulations, such as pulse-frequency modulation or pulse-space modulation. As an example of the application of pulse spacing and width modulation, a two-way transmission experiment is also shown here - using two light emitting diodes, two optical fiber transmission lines and two PIN photodiodes. At the end of this article we outline that it is possible to reduce the transmission bandwidth.
