布赖恩·理查森,美国马里兰大学英语系教授,前国际叙事学学会和美国约瑟夫·康拉德学会主席,非自然叙事学的创始人,是20世纪文学、现代戏剧诗学和叙事学研究的领军学者,他著述丰厚,最新著作是2015年出版的《非自然叙事:理论,历史与实践》。2016年12月,本文作者受《外国文学研究》的委托,在马里兰大学英语系访学期间对理查森教授进行了面对面的访谈。本访谈主要就非自然叙事学的发展新动态这一问题采访了理查森教授。访谈在详细阐述非自然叙事学相关核心概念和基本术语之后,还论述非自然叙事学与当代文学批评的关系,尤其是探讨非自然叙事学对文学在伦理、政治和意识形态诉求中的作用;最后访谈还展望后现代主义之后的文学批评,探讨未来非自然叙事学的发展态势和方向。
Brian Richardson, a professor of English at the University of Maryland, former chairman of the International Narrative Society and the Joseph Conrad Society in the United States, and founder of unnatural narratology, is a study of 20th century literature, modern dramatic poetics and narratology Leading scholar, his rich writings, the latest book is published in 2015 “unnatural narrative: theory, history and practice.” In December 2016, the author was commissioned by Foreign Literary Studies to interview Professor Richardson face-to-face during his visit to the Department of English at the University of Maryland. This interview mainly interviewed Professor Richardson on the new development of unnatural narratology. After elaborating the core concepts and basic terminology of non-natural narratology, the interview also discusses the relationship between non-natural narratology and contemporary literary criticism, especially the role of non-natural narratology in the appeal of literature in ethics, politics and ideology. Finally, the interview also looks forward to post-modernist literary criticism and discusses the development trend and direction of future non-natural narratology.
