The orthodox works appearing in the Yuan Dynasty did not refer to the derivative works under the influence of history and Ping dialect, but rather they were based on the colloquial writings which were easy to elaborate on the ancient books of history by reading. Its designation of “straightforwardness” is not directed at a certain speaking activity, but rather emphasizes the vernacular way of presentation used in textual writing. To put it simply, the emergence of works is due to the improvement of the position of the vernacular in the Mongolian monarchy and the need of the Han national literati to serve Mongolian dignitaries to study the Han culture, and further stimulates the editing of vernacular writings for the lower people. The direct use of the vernacular's position and attitude implied in the work truly reflects the conscientiousness of written vernacular writings, which is of great significance in the development of ancient vernacular Chinese.
