我们在北大读书的时候,同学们绝大多数都使用饭盆和勺子吃饭。因为所有学生饭堂都没有椅子、凳子,顶多只有几张四方桌子,所以大家多半都站着吃饭,个别讲究一点的同学,会打饭回宿舍吃。在北大差不多六年时间里,我们曾经在三个学生饭堂吃饭。首先是现在“百周年纪念讲堂”地方的第一饭堂。第一饭堂也兼作大礼堂用,有什么大型演出,以及放映电影,也都安排在这个地方。学校真正的礼堂,也就是只作礼堂用的地方,是原来燕京大学的建筑,在西门进来正对着的学校办公楼的二楼。大家一般把它叫做小礼
When we were studying at Peking University, the vast majority of our students used rice baskets and spoons to eat. Because all student canteens have no chairs or stools, there are only a few square tables at most.
