The United States has had a delayed lag or shortage of flu vaccine supply in three seasons in the last five influenza (flu) epidemic seasons. As a result, priority vaccination has been undertaken in previous years to ensure adequate vaccines for those at risk of developing complications. This article updates relevant recommendations for priority groups to be vaccinated during the 2005-2006 influenza season. Four existing producers are available to U.S. citizens
