20世纪后半叶,美国社会经济的快速发展以及思想界、文化界和学界的不断变革,不仅影响也极大地促进了世纪末美国的小说创作。20世纪最后20年的美国小说,在形式和内容上既有对传统的继承,也表现出大胆的实验特征;而最令人瞩目的是其所呈现出的多元特征,传统文学形式不断推陈出新、少数族裔和女性小说家异军突起、通俗文学体裁登堂入室。20世纪末美国小说焕发着勃勃的生机,其成就令人瞩目。
In the second half of the 20th century, the rapid social and economic development of the United States and the continuous transformation of the ideological, cultural and academic circles not only greatly contributed to and promoted the creation of American novels by the end of the century. American novels in the last 20 years of the 20th century both inherit traditions and exhibit bold experimental features in form and content. The most striking feature of the American novels is its multiple features. The traditional literary forms are constantly being innovated, Ethnic minorities and female novelists emerged suddenly, popular literary genre debut. The achievements of the American novels in the late 20th century are full of vigor and vitality.
