沙祖康,新任联合国副秘书长,1947年出生于江苏省,曾担任中国常驻联合国日内瓦办事处特命全权大使,中国外交部军控司司长等职务。2007年2月9日,新任联合国秘书长潘基文任命来自中国的沙祖康担任联合国负责经济和社会事务的副秘书长。作为来自中国的联合国高级官员,沙祖康吸引了全世界关注的目光。在履行新职务前夕,沙祖康接受了央视《面对面》的专访。
Sha Zukang, the newly appointed Under-Secretary General of the United Nations, was born in Jiangsu Province in 1947 and was previously Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva and Director of the Arms Control Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On February 9, 2007, the new UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appointed Sha Zukang from China as UN Deputy Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs. As a senior UN official from China, Sha Zukang has drawn the attention of the world. On the eve of fulfilling his new job, Sha Zukang accepted CCTV’s “face-to-face” interview.
