The shallower layer cancer therapy device with heavy ions as one of HIRFL’s experimental terminals built in our institute has been used to try to treat cancer patients and very good results has been obtained. Because of the depth of the beam getting into the body is only 1.5～3 cm with beam energy of 80～100 MeV/u,this device is used mainly to treat skin cancers.In order to enlarge the treat range by the advanced method of heave ions,a deeper layer cancer therapy device will be built at the end of one branch of CSRm.
