抗美援朝期间,周恩来在担负新中国繁重的经济和外交工作的同时,直接筹划志愿军赴朝作战。吴小宝、曾长秋同志撰写的《周恩来对抗美援朝战争所作的重要贡献》一文,对周恩来对抗美援朝战争所作的重要贡献归结为五个主要方面:一是及时组建东北边防军;二是参与制定抗美援朝的重大决策;三是秘密访苏要求军事援助;四是组织领导和指挥抗美援朝战争;五是领导停战谈判斗争。并对五个方面的贡献作了详细阐述。
