城市体系是指不同规模、不同功能的城市在一定的地域范围内按一定比例合理分布而形成的城市集合体,它是国民经济的组成部分。城市体系既反映了生产力的布局、人口的分布,也体现了整个社会经济的空间结构。本文从城市体系的三个层次着眼,分析美国现代城市体系的内容和特点,即:全国性城市体系、地区城市体系和大都市区域内城市体系(日常城市体系),说明随着美国城市化进程的推进,美国城市体系的逐步确立和完善。
Urban system refers to the urban agglomeration formed by a certain proportion of cities with different scales and different functions within a certain geographical area.
