Objective: To evaluate the effect of single eyelid suture on visual evoked potentials during the critical period of visual development. Methods: The visual evoked potentials (PVEP) of 7, 8, 11 ~ 12 and 15 ~ 16 weeks after cats were recorded by Pathfinder Ⅱ visual evoked potential meter in normal (15) and monocular deprived (18) cats. Results: The amplitude of N1-P1 in normal eyes (NE) gradually increased with the visual development, and the latency of P1 shortened. The amplitude of N1-P1 in deprived eyes (DE) decreased, while NE / DE was in PNW7-8 (P <0.05) and PNW15-16 (P <0.01) PNW7 ~ 8 (P> 0.05), PNW15 ~ 16 (P <0.05). CONCLUSION: Monocular deprivation can reduce the amplitude of N1-P1 in deprived eyes and prolong the latent period of P1. The longer the deprivation period, the more serious the damage. N1-P1 amplitude is more sensitive to damage caused by monocular deprivation than P1 latency.
