Metaphor is a common linguistic phenomenon and one of the basic ways of human cognition. Therefore, as a link between cognition and language, metaphor plays an important role in vocabulary learning. This article will explore the significance of this way of thinking metaphor for improving the acquisition efficiency of college English vocabulary and how to develop students’ metaphorical cognitive abilities.
