本文以费孝通先生提出的关于“文化自觉”的著名命题为基本出发点,在回顾和考察英国文化思想家阿诺德、利维斯、威廉斯等人的文化观和批评观的基础上,结合当下中国的社会特质和文化语境,分析说明当代中国在全球化与中国和平发展的大背景下,有针对性地吸收外国优秀文明成果和文化思想,重温其当年在应对社会和文化转型时期的理论思考和现实主张,并以此反观我们自身的文化传统和文化选择,是摆在我们面前的一个重要而实际的问题。
