The authors investigated the new Pasteur-inactivated Vero cell rabies vaccine (PVRV) in an immunization schedule based on human diploid cell strain rabies vaccine (HDCV). In two rabies control centers in France, the authors vaccinated 376 people with PVRV (163 immunized, 123 pre-vaccinated, and 90 post-vaccination). The vaccine is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously. Antibody titers were determined using the Rapid Focal Inhibition Assay (RFFIT) with a lower limit of 0.5 IU / ml. One hundred and seventy-three months after boosting of PVRV, the geometric mean antibody titer increased significantly from 1.53 IU / ml before inoculation to 10 IU / ml.
