The USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral), a universal software radio peripheral, is a low-cost software and radio development experiment platform. Based on the device and GNU Radio toolkit, users have the flexibility to build a variety of wireless communication systems. The article first introduces the necessity of using the software radio platform, then elaborates the hardware constitution of the USRP, and briefly introduces the GNU Radio software architecture. Finally, it summarizes the application of the USRP in the fields of research, commerce and military.
