江山市是浙江省的西南门户和钱塘江源头之一,位于浙闽赣三省交界处,南邻福建浦城、西接江西玉山、广丰,素有“东南锁钥、入闽咽喉”之称。唐武德四年(公元621年)建县,1987年11月撤县设市,区域总面积2019平方公里,辖13个镇6乡2个街道办事处、312个行政村,总人口58万。江山市按照科学发展观和“两创”总战略的要求,紧紧围绕打造浙闽赣三省边际发展高地、进位全省中等发达行列、进军全国百强县市的“一高两进”三步走战略目标,深入实施“兴工强市、借力发展、特色推进”战略,克难攻坚,提升发展,着力建设浙闽赣三省边际“工业新城、旅游胜地、山水家园”。2008年,全市实现生产总值130.7亿元,财政总收入10.34亿元,其中地方财政收入6.21亿元,分别比上年增长13.9%、14.1%、15.5%。
