作曲家、指挥家、音乐教育家冼星海(1905-1945),原籍广东禺,出生在澳门一个贫苦渔民之家。自幼酷爱音乐,中学时参加学校乐队,拉小提琴、吹单簧管、还担任指挥。1926年入北京艺专学小提琴。1928年进入上海国立音专,并发表了著名音乐短论《普遍的音乐》一文,他在文中提出:学习音乐的目的应该是“负起一个重责,救起不振的中国”,并提出“中国所需要的是普遍的音乐”思想。1929年冬赴巴黎勤工俭学,先后师从奥别多费尔学习小提琴,师从著名印象派作曲大师丹第和杜卡学习理论作曲,此间创作了著名的重奏曲
