石墨钢是含炭1.5%和矽1%之高炭钢,其炭素之大部份是石墨(grapbite)。在製造時,如果用电爐熔解,还须注意铸塊模子之大小及注入温度。假使铸造後的石墨過多,則以后無論怎样的進行热处理,还是不能恢复其锻鍊性。在进行机械加工時,首先需要标准化退火,同時要减少化合炭素而使變成石墨(即 Temper Carbon)。又波来体部份要球狀化的,这样使加工容易,有如灰生铁一般。石墨钢亦分兩种:——(1)矽石墨钢(Grapb-Sil),主要是水淬火用。(2)鉏石墨钢(Graph-Mo),油
