在《美国人》中 ,为了强调欧洲和美国两种价值体系的不相容性 ,詹姆斯特别借助了哥特式小说特有的艺术表现手法。聚焦于该文本的哥特文体特征 ,尝试分析这些哥特成分在小说的整体情节设计中如何造成“陌生化”的效果 ,从而有效地起到强化作品“隔绝”主题的作用。
In the “American”, in order to emphasize the incompatibility of the two value systems in Europe and the United States, James especially draws on the artistic expressions unique to Gothic novels. Focusing on the Gothic features of the text, this article attempts to analyze how these gothic elements contribute to the effect of “defamiliarization” in the overall plot design of the novel, so as to effectively reinforce the theme of isolation.
